Sundial Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 25, 2026
Developer: Metavirtuoso — [email protected]
Sundial (“the app”, Android package com.metavirtuoso.sundial) is a celestial clock for Android. It has no accounts and no advertising, and it is designed so that your personal information stays on your device. This policy explains what the app accesses, what leaves your device, and your choices.
Information that stays on your device
Calendar events. If you grant calendar permission and choose calendars to display, Sundial reads those events (titles, times and calendar colours) from Android’s calendar storage to draw them on its dials. Calendar access is read-only. Calendar data is processed only on your device and is never transmitted, stored on our servers, or shared.
Birth date, birth time and sun sign. If you use the optional astrology mode, the birth details you enter are saved in the app’s private storage on your device. They are used only on your device to draw the zodiac instrument and to write your daily horoscope.
Horoscopes. Daily horoscopes are generated on your device by Gemini Nano through Android’s AICore system service, where your device supports it. Your birth details and the reading are processed on the device and are not sent to us.
Settings and wallpaper. Display preferences, and the optional celestial wallpaper (off until you turn it on), are created and stored on your device.
Android may include the app’s private settings, including birth details, in your device’s own encrypted backup to your Google account if you have device backup turned on. We have no access to those backups.
Information that leaves your device
Reports you choose to send. You can report any AI-written reading from inside the app. When you do, the app sends us the text of that reading, the reason you selected, the date and the app version, so that we can review it and improve content safeguards. Reports are submitted through Google Forms and contain no birth details, calendar data or account identifiers. We keep reports only as long as needed for that review.
Diagnostics collected by Google ML Kit. The on-device horoscope feature uses Google’s ML Kit GenAI library. ML Kit sends Google limited diagnostic and usage information — such as device model and Android version, app package name and version, performance metrics, error codes, configured languages and an identifier used for diagnostics — to operate and improve the service. It does not include your calendar data, birth details or horoscope text. See Google’s ML Kit data disclosure.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
The Sundial watch face
The Sundial watch face for Wear OS (package com.metavirtuoso.sundial.watchface) is a separate download. It contains no code and requests no permissions: the watch draws it from the time, date and time zone, and from the style you choose in the watch’s face editor. It collects, stores and transmits no information.
Permissions
- Read calendar — to show the calendars you choose on the dials (optional).
- Set wallpaper — for the optional celestial wallpaper.
- Internet — only to send a report you choose to submit (Google ML Kit also uses it for the diagnostics above).
- Background work and boot — to refresh the optional wallpaper every 15 minutes.
Your choices
- You can revoke calendar permission at any time in Android settings; the app keeps working without it.
- Astrology mode is off by default. Turning it off stops horoscope generation; clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it deletes your birth details.
- To ask about or request deletion of a report you sent, email [email protected].
Children
Sundial is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date.
